What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.
I enjoy writing about what I have read. Fantasy and Science Fiction are two genres I have the most ideas for followed closely by horror. However, I first wanted to be a writer in middle grade so I have plenty of ideas (mostly fantasy) in this "genre" as well.
Since J.R. High School I have always enjoyed building websites (static HTML before most CMS or WordPress). Throughout the years I have had many website ideas and about 50% of them I actually built. I also maintain and add content to my sites as I enjoy it as much as writing.
I used to draw as well as a kid/teenager. However, I stopped after high school. Now my ‘skill’ has become just as they were when I first started. Bad! So I plan on practicing daily for an hour & blogging my progress.
